Zymtronix Appoints New Chief Executive and Chief Innovation Officers
Company Leaders Adam Monroe and Stéphane Corgié assume new roles as company sets sights on Agtech Market
Research Triangle Park, N.C. – Jan.16, 2025 – Zymtronix, a pre-commercial-stage technology pioneer in cell-free products and biomanufacturing, today announced the appointment of Adam Monroe as Chief Executive Officer and Stéphane Corgié as Chief Innovation Officer, positioning the company for expansion in the agricultural technology sector.
The company’s novel Crop-Core enzyme system enables it to deliver BioEnhanced Herbicides, BioFungicides and Seed and Post-Harvest Sanitizers with decreased financial risk and product variability. The resulting product applications help farmers protect their crops and avoid yield losses in a more sustainable way. When deploying Zymtronix field-tested Crop-Core technology, farmers can more efficiently and effectively kill off persistent weeds and fungi that would otherwise reduce output.
A large and long-standing threat to agricultural output, resistant weeds represent a more than $55 billion crop loss annually for farmers globally. Organic growers are especially limited with the tools they can use to protect their crops. Farmers are also under pressure from governments to reduce or eliminate use of traditional herbicides and grow more high-quality food with less negative environmental impact.
Zymtronix BioEnhanced Herbicides give farmers the potential to use less chemical herbicides while achieving greater weed control and reducing losses. Its BioEnhancement technology enables multiple types of active herbicide molecules to move throughout the plant overcoming numerous weed control challenges.
Zymtronix BioFungicide is a standalone product that controls numerous fungal and bacterial pathogens across multiple crops. The company is working across the industry to formulate ready-to-launch targeted fungicide products and will continue to field test the best candidates in 2025.
To accelerate the deployment of these agricultural solutions and expand market reach, Zymtronix has realigned its executive leadership team:
Adam Monroe brings more than 30 years of industrial biotechnology experience to the CEO role, with extensive expertise in the agriculture, food, beverage, and nutrition industries. Having joined the Zymtronix board in 2020 and served as President and COO since 2022, Monroe's deep understanding of enzyme innovation, markets, production, sales, and logistics makes him uniquely qualified to lead the company's growth initiatives. He will also join the Zymtronix Board of Directors.
Before joining Zymtronix, Monroe served as CEO of Panaceutics Nutrition and as President-Americas for Novozymes, where he led a $900 million enzyme and microbials business across North and South America. At Novozymes, he spearheaded global sustainability and public affairs efforts, implementing an award-winning model that influenced policy from Brussels to Brasilia, Beijing, and Washington, D.C. Monroe holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas and is recognized as a leading national voice for nature-based solutions and their sustainable impact on business and society.
Dr. Stéphane Corgié, founder of Zymtronix and inventor of its core enzyme technology, will transition to the role of Chief Innovation Officer. In this position, he will continue to lead the company's scientific and engineering initiatives while overseeing commercial partnerships and development. Corgié's background includes pioneering research at Cornell University in microbial ecology, enzymatic activities, and nano-biotechnology methods for sustainable bioconversion processes. He holds an MSc in Soil Science, Microbial Ecology, and Molecular Biology and a Ph.D in Soil Microbiology from the University Henri Poincare in Nancy, France.
