Zach is Zymtronix's Plant Pathology Lead. He became an ISA certified arborist when practicing landscape IPM with Bartlett Tree Experts in Elmsford, NY. His background also includes experience with the Clemson University Student Organic Farm and being a technician for the Keinath lab, where he worked on screening isolates of Didymella bryoniae for resistance to DMI fungicides. He holds a MSc in Plant and Environmental Sciences from Clemson University. His MSc thesis research, conducted at the Clemson University Coastal Research and Education Center in Charleston, SC, focused on the use of biofumigant cover crops to control soil-borne vegetable diseases. Zach's Ph.D. research, under the guidance of Prof. Christine Smart, focused on potato and tomato late blight and the organism that causes it, Phytophthora infestans. Projects included evaluating tomato varieties for late blight resistance in field trials, the development of molecular pathogen diagnostic tools, and population studies.
